Special Education Director
Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Traci Graham
Hello Lake Preston! It is my pleasure to serve this terrific community. My role as the Director of Special Education is to oversee the special education department, coordinate student 504 plans, support child find obligations, assist the staff with pre-referral interventions through the problem-solving team and to support all students as a behavior specialist.
I am an Arizona native, who a few years ago, decided to leave the heat of the desert and move to South Dakota. My family and I are so happy we made this decision. We appreciate and love our new surroundings. I especially enjoy experiencing the seasons! My husband Larry and I have three children: two in college and one in high school. As a family we try our best to get outside and appreciate God’s beautiful country. We can be found camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting throughout the seasons.
Twenty-five years ago, I began my career as a classroom teacher shaping the minds of second and third students. After a while in the classroom, my zeal of working with students lead to special education where I reached students ranging from preschool to age 21. After receiving my master’s degree, I dabbled in educational leadership roles which further developed my enthusiasm for advocating for students with disabilities. I decided to return once again to graduate school to pursue an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology. For the past eleven years I have absolutely enjoyed my role as a school psychologist! I partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments.
It was through my role as a school psychologist that I first began working with the Lake Preston School District. Presently, as part of the administration team, I develop personal connections with students, staff, and form ongoing partnerships with families. I am thrilled to assist you with strengthening connections between the school and the community. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or student concerns.
