Mr. Dana Felderman
Hello everyone! My name is Dana Felderman and I am starting my 10th year at Lake Preston School. Of those 10 years at Lake Preston, this is my 3rd year as Superintendent and 6th year as Elementary Principal. I was the Head Football Coach as a student teacher back in 2012, and also taught for 3 years prior to getting my administrative degree. Other duties that I have completed at the Lake Preston School are Transportation Director, Special Education Director and the Athletic Director. Throughout my tenure at the Lake Preston School, I have coached football, basketball, track, and golf. To be honest, once I came to Lake Preston as a student teacher, I never left and have spent my entire career here at Lake Preston School.
I reside in Madison, SD with my wife Chantel, who is a RN at the Madison Regional Hospital, and three children Kynley, Braxton, and Lakyn. I graduated from Doland High School in 2008 and played football for Dakota State University from 2008-2011. I majored in physical education and then finalized my master's degree in Educational Administration at South Dakota State University in May of 2018. I finalized my professional journey in Educational Administration by obtaining my Specialist Degree at the University of South Dakota in May 2020.
I spend much of my free time attending many I-LP Sharks, DSU Trojans, and SDSU Jackrabbit sporting events, ice fishing, spending time with family at our family lake house on Lake Poinsett, hunting, golfing, riding motorcycle, and working on our family farm which is 15 miles south of Doland. The rural community of Lake Preston has many similarities of where I grew up and how I was raised, which is very important to me.
I fell in love with the Lake Preston School District when I first became an employee and appreciate what the school means to our students, teachers, community, and small-town. Coming from a small community and school, I have built many positive relationships and enjoyed working together with all Lake Preston stakeholders to accomplish a common goal of educating students. Having high expectations, work ethic, and passion for learning within our building is vital to the success of our students and future.
I hope you take some time to visit the Lake Preston School District and community to see what opportunities we can provide to you, your family, and education of children!
