The first quarter of the school year is ending on October 23rd and I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by. There have been many activities within our elementary school, middle school, and high school and they have all been quite successful. We end the quarter by scheduling parent/teacher conference on Thursday, October 26th from 2:30-8:00 p.m. with staff supper from 5:00-5:30 p.m.Teachers will be communicating with you on setting up a time for your child(ren). Please remember that there is no school on Friday, October 27th .
During the month of October, the elementary classes participated in the annual 4-H Food Drive and donated a total of 400 items to help those in need. The 2nd Grade was the winning class and earned themselves a pizza party for their hard work. We appreciate the hard work and dedication from all of the students and love participating in this event each year.
Lake Preston Elementary had a fire prevention presentation at the Lake Preston Fire Hall where they talked about fire safety and each class got to tour the facility, wear equipment, and fire trucks along with taking home a bag of goodies provided by the Lake Preston Fire Department. The children really enjoyed listening and asking questions from the local firemen.
October has been a busy month for the elementary school. On October 10th, the Lake Preston School provided a birth-4 screening for any child/parent interested in getting evaluated by certified professionals. If you feel your child needs assistance or additional evaluations, please feel free to contact the school at any time.
When attending sporting events home or away, please show good sportsmanship to officials, coaches, student athletes, and other fans. Be positive as your actions reflect our school district and community.
With Winter approaching quickly, the weather is constantly changing, and colder temperatures will be in the forecast. Please make sure your child(ren) dresses for the season and the South Dakota weather.
Continue to check our schedules on the school webpage, announcements, and Facebook for changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the elementary office. Have a great month! Mr. Dana Felderman Superintendent Elementary Principal
